    Future Artists Club is a day for creating, making and play for young artists and families on Saturday 28th September from 10am to 3pm.

    Discover your inner artist by immersing yourself in an array of exciting and imaginative activities. Stimulate your senses in artist Louise Zhang’s colourful and whimsical Chinese garden installation, visit artist studios, get your face painted and unleash your creativity on a day packed full of free and book-in activities.

    Our friends at Darcy St Projects are back, with specialist coffees and teas to try. Arrive at 10am to start your day off right with some rare and exotic blends the whole family can enjoy.

    • Recommended for ages 5 to 12 years.
    • Secure your tickets now for our book-in workshops. Spaces are limited so bookings are essential.

    ART INSTALLATION

    All day | Louise Zhang’s Installation – Chinese Garden
    Enter Louise Zhang’s Chinese Garden through the colourful Moon Gates and marvel at the gooey, slimy scholar rocks.

    GENERAL ACTIVITIES

    • All day | Studio Sticker Hunt
      Grab a map, explore the Artist’ Studios and collect stickers from each studio.
    • All day | Face painting
      Get your face painted with your favourite animal or character.
    • 10am-11am | Darcy Street Project
      Kick-start your day of making! Coffee and tea tasting the whole family can enjoy. Coffee service available onsite until 12pm.

    LEVEL 2 DROP IN ACTIVITIES (FREE)

    • 10am-12pm | Rainbow Fish
      Make a rainbow fish to add to Louise Zhang’s Chinese garden. Use crepe paper to turn your fish into a watercolour masterpiece.
    • 10am-12pm | Drawing Green
      Help author/illustrator Martin Chatterton design his latest main picture book character – ‘Green’ – and find out how a professional goes about creating characters.
    • 12pm-1pm | Zine making
      Construct a zine using collage and simple binding techniques and make your own artist’s book.
    • 12pm-1pm | Monster Magic
      Create monsters inspired by Louise Zhang’s installation and turn your favourite monster into a badge.
    • 1pm-3pm | Wearable Creatures
      Design a creature using simple materials like cardboard and wool. Turn the creature into a wearable piece.
    • 1pm-3pm | Slime Sublime
      Mix up some gooey and squishy slime using ingredients you can find in your home. Dye it, poke it, and add bits and pieces to it.

    LEVEL 1 BOOK IN WORKSHOPS ($8)

    • 10am- 11am | Light up your life
      Learn how to make a paper circuit to illuminate an LED light. Use collage and drawing to turn your light into an interactive artwork. Led by artist Nadia Odlum.

    • 11:30am-12:30pm | Bamboo ink painting
      Using a simple Chinese ink brush painting technique, learn to paint bamboo. Bamboo is considered one of the four ‘nobles’ in Chinese culture – alongside the orchid, plum blossom and chrysanthemum. The perfect combination of strength and flexibility, the bamboo symbol has come to represent harmony and balance in one’s life. Led by artist Dacchi Dang.
      Suitable for ages 9-12 years.

    • 1-3pm | Creating clay flowers
      Make flowers and a vase out of red terracotta and white clays. Learn how to shape petals, leaves and stems to form a balanced arrangement inside the vase. Led by Parramatta Clay & Arts.
