For more than 25 years, Bay Vista Dessert Bar has been serving up indulgent, delicious desserts for Sydneysiders overlooking Brighton Le Sands. Now they are doing the same for Western Sydney, but on a bigger scale! They opened on 15th August 2017, in a venue three times the size, at the new Meriton Altitude building on Eat (Church) Street.
27th Birthday Celebration – 27th June 2018
To celebrate their 27th birthday, Bay Vista Dessert Bar are giving away FREE pancakes. There’s a limit of one standard serving per customer, with your choice of dessert sauce and vanilla ice cream.
The icing on the cake is that they are open from 10am to 12pm. I am sure there are a LOT of mums-to-be celebrating right now….late night sugar cravings sorted – yay! And what sleep deprived parent doesn’t dream of something sweet to get through another day on little sleep? Plus, this would make for an awesome special treat for family celebrations.
The venue is split over two levels, with 50 booths and can seat up to 300 people. You could easily park a pram the end of a booth, or at a table in the middle, on the first level. If you are coming with kids, but no pram, then upstairs may be a better option as it is quieter.
While there are a few stairs at the entrance, there is pram and wheelchair access via a ramp at the corner of the building, near the river. High chairs are available but we didn’t spot a baby change table in the toilets.
Bay Vista Dessert Bar really has a menu to suit all tastes. And we are definitely spoilt for choice – with about 40 pages of yumminess! From sweet and savoury crepes, pancakes, waffles, cakes and classic desserts to chocolate fountains and the over-sized ice cream bowls that they are famous for. They also serve light meals, like NY style grilled sandwiches, cheesy waffle melts and baguettes. And on weekends, there is a breakfast menu from 8am to 11am.
We went two days after opening, without the kids, and had to try their famous ice-cream bowls. And boy were they HUGE! Easily enough for two adults. My Canadian Crunch was delicious – loved the combination of caramel, nuts and banana.
You order at the counter and then they bring your food to you. Most of the orders are prepared where you can see them so lots for kids to see while you are waiting. We found the staff very welcoming and friendly.
You can drool over their menu here. But keep in mind it isn’t their full menu. And we were too busy eating to photograph all 40 pages! It is great to see that the kids have their own, well priced menu. But chances are, you will be sharing some of yours with them! Don’t fret, there will be plenty to go around….
And remember, when you are just a little STRESSED, the word spelt backwards may just be the answer…
