The Bells Road Social cafe opened in December 2017 and was such a welcome addition to the Parramatta cafe scene! A few years on, it’s still our local favourite cafe. It’s hard to  beat the combination of delicious food, family friendly service and having a playground, street library and bushland next door to explore.

The Bells Road Social cafe is filled with natural light and has a view out to Fred Robertson Reserve. The decor is a lovely blend of new and old, with rustic and chic elements.

And if your kids aren’t in the mood for sitting, you can order, grab a picnic rug and they will bring your food over to you in the playground. Now that is some serious family friendliness right there!

But the standout feature is definitely the food! You know it must be a great cafe when you have trouble deciding what to order as everything sounds and tastes so yummy. Plus they update their menu each season so you’ve regularly got more delicious food to try!

Two of my favourite lunch dishes have been the Chicken and Chorizo Salad and Lamb Kofta. They were so delicious and full of flavour (though sadly no longer on the menu). But the chicken burger is a new favourite, along with the short pasta. And I definitely have a weak spot for the divine lemon meringue tartlets!

The Bells Road Social cafe also have a special kids (all day) menu. My boys normally opt for a toastie and chips. But my eldest has a special love for the Avo Toast, with their own marinated feta.

Here is the current menu, keeping in mind it changes seasonally.

The lovely owners, Melissa and Dan, were behind the very successful Long Shot cafe in Beecroft (right near the fab train playground). And have brought their fresh style, friendly service and yummy food to Oatlands….yay for us!

There’s a mix of seating styles from stools to tables and there’s also a waiting bench for take away coffees. My favourite spot is the little balcony area on the side, overlooking the park. It’s great for catching up with another family – or just enjoying a quiet meal for two.

There are high chairs plus room for a few prams. Plus, there are two toilets, with a baby change table in one.

You can also now enjoy a book from our wonderful street library at the entrance to Fred Robertson Reserve, near the cafe. Thank you to Bells Road Social for partnering with ParraParents who help look after the Helping Hands Street Library.
