It’s sometimes hard to believe that it has only been two years since we launched the ParraParents website. Particularly considering what we have achieved as a group of volunteers in a short period of time!
- 200+ local playgrounds have been reviewed. Providing parents with handy information and photos for every single playground in the City of Parramatta and almost 100 other playgrounds.
- There are over 600 articles on fun, mostly free things to do with your family. Uncovering wonderful local family-friendly things to do and saving you the hassle.
- Thousands of local events listed in our What’s On Calendar. Helping more families enjoy all the great, fun events on offer.
- 12,000+ people now follow us on Facebook
- Up to 35,000 people use our website each month
- Almost 2,000 followers on Instagram
It’s fantastic to know that by sharing the adventures that put a BIG smile on our faces, we are helping thousands of other families create fond memories as well! So we thought that was a good enough reason to have a party. And to meet in person some of our biggest fans.
With the help of a great group of local businesses and 50+ families, we celebrated the ParraParents 2nd birthday on Sunday 21st October at John Curtin Reserve in Winston Hills. We wanted the day to reflect the ParraParents spirit – fun times as a family, enjoying yummy food, supporting local businesses, being environmentally friendly, contributing to our local community and getting outdoors. And based on the smiles and feedback, we achieved just that!
Here is a little photo summary of our 2nd birthday party thanks to the wonderful Josephine Sicad Photography. We think the warmth captured in the photos reflects the awesome vibe at the party.
The centrepiece of the delicious food at our 2nd birthday party was the lovely cake created and donated by Indigo Cakes.
We were also treated to yummy pancakes from Bay Vista Dessert Bar, fresh sandwiches from Courtyard Dining & Espresso, tasty donuts from Quinkydinks, delicious rice paper rolls from Got Pho?, colourful fruit platters from Carlingford Fruit World and yummy savoury scrolls thanks to Nadine Stewart a local Thermomix consultant.
There were lots of happy faces and laughter throughout the morning playing with the Active Parramatta team, striking yoga poses with Turiya Yoga, rock painting, creating works of art out of recycled items thanks to The Bower, getting a little dirty with some nature play, face painting and reading a book or three in our mobile street library – made nice and comfy thanks to Aussie Bean Bags.
Of course, the kids also had a great time playing at the fun playground at John Curtin Reserve. We can highly recommend this park for birthday parties!
And while the kids were having fun playing, we got to listen to great tunes thanks to Stormer Music.
There were smiles all around thanks to our gift bags, consisting of a free coffee voucher from The Container, free pizza voucher from Dolly’s Bakery, yummy birthday cookie from Sweet Joys, Doterra essential oils from Jade Grimwood, keyring from Carlile Carlingford Swimming School and a reuseable bag from the Liveable Parramatta.
But there were even BIGGER smiles to be had when the lucky door prizes were drawn! Thanks to Velocipede Parramatta Bike Shop one lucky kid got a new bike. Two families will get to become ninja warriors with $50 vouchers from Ninja 101. And one other family will get to enjoy $50 worth of cupcakes and cookies thanks to Emma’s Cakes.
We really appreciated a number of families donating nappies for The Nappy Collective and children’s books for our street library. There are two big boxes to pay it forward with!
This wonderful day would not have been possible without the energy and dedication of Julie Mason, supported by a lovely team of volunteers. THANK YOU!
