The playground at Carmen Drive Reserve has been upgraded, as part of works to improve the Carmen Drive shops. It opened on 10th December. And seeing there wasn’t much smoke haze around today, we popped by for a little play and afternoon tea from the bakery across the road.
We love that it’s fenced (though not a child proof gate). And there are toilets, plus lots of new parking spaces.
Such a big improvement on the old playground!
It’s annoying that there’s no shade at the moment over anything! Well not until the new trees grow a whole lot more. Thankfully Council is going to install a shade sail now. Along with some picnic tables, which will have a cover.
Sadly there’s also nothing really for little ones to play with, except the baby swing. Interactive boards between the legs of the climbing play gym would be great.
And we’re happy to report they’ve now been added. But still not really something for little ones to use as a bit high for them to reach…
The new playground at Carmen Drive Reserve is definitely more one for kids 4-7yr olds, who are confident enough climbers and balancers.
Right next to the playground is a toilet block, with a baby change table. And there are some seats and a picnic table. With more picnic tables and shade to come.
And across the road, are the Carmen Drive Shops, with a bakery and cafe plus other shops.
The upgrade of the reserve also included adding over 20 parking spots, which are accessed from Oakes Road.
