Just down the road from the popular Binalong Park, you’ll find the lovely Doris Sargeant Park in Old Toongabbie. It’s a gated playground, with a grassed area at the back. Keep in mind though that there is a gap in the fence, at the front right corner for vehicle access.
There is a lovely big gum tree at the front of the playground, which provides some shade. And at the back, a number of trees have recently been planted.
From the gate, there is a short path to the playground. Under the play equipment is synthetic grass and there is seating and a bin nearby.
The playground consists of:
- two swings, with toddler seat
- monkey bars
- running roller
- noughts and crosses
- climbing play gym with slide, shop and abacus
Behind the play equipment, is a grassed area which backs onto the fences of the houses behind.
Keep in mind that there is an opening in the fence along the front of the park. It’s in the top right corner and appears to be for vehicle access. With so few fully fenced playgrounds in the City of Parramatta, it is a shame that there isn’t a gate here instead.
