The fenced playground at Doyle Ground is one of only a handful of fenced playgrounds. And part of a smaller select group that also has shade sails! It’s also one of a few playgrounds nearby to Parramatta CBD.
All this means it’s popular with families with young kids, particularly when you factor in that the playground at Doyle Ground is a short walk from Six Ain’t Seven cafe.
City of Parramatta is upgrading the much loved playground at Doyle Ground. Here are photos of the progress, taken on 30th September 2021.
You get more information on the proposed design and feedback received by Council from the community here. Option 3 below was the one most preferred by the community.
Here is our review of the old playground, which we will update once the new playground is open for play in mid October 2021.
The play equipment is best suited for kids 3-7yrs and includes:
- monkey bars
- large climbing play gym with spiral slide, noughts and crosses, tunnel and pretend shop
- stepping stones
- dry creek bed with bridge
There’s also picnic tables and park benches for parents inside the fenced area, plus a little path for the kids to ride on.
The whole area inside the fence isn’t shaded which means it’s nice for a visit on hot and cool days.
Outside the fenced playground are more swings, including a birds nest swing, and exercise equipment, plus a pathway around the oval great for walking or riding on.
If you are after coffee or a bite to eat, then Six Ain’t Seven cafe is only a few minutes walk up Buller Street.
