The new playground at Winton Avenue Reserve is now open. And it’s a great improvement on the sad little slide and swing that was there before.
I’m impressed with what has been packed into such a small space, with a mix of play equipment for little ones as well as primary school kids.
We like that there’s the sand stone blocks for walking and sitting on. Plus the fence and gate at the front of the playground.
While only a small playground, it makes for a great starting point for a bushwalk into the gorgeous Bidjigal Reserve, along Darling Mills Creek, to North Rocks Dam.
Here’s a pic of the old playground for comparison.
There is a fence at the back and the playground slopes down to the road. If you wander up the left hand side, you will find a grassed area.
A short walk down the end of Ventura Road takes you to the lovely Murri Yanna Track along the Darling Mills Creek. If you go right along this track, you will reach a massive flood retarding wall and our superheroes walking trail.
Going left/ north along the track will take you through gorgeous bushland, along the Darling Mills Creek and underneath the M2. I did this for the first time yesterday and will definitely be back again soon – so beautiful!
