We just had to check out the BRAND NEW Flower Power at Milperra, near Liverpool, which opened in April 2019. And delivers a lot for families with young kids! It has a great fenced all-weather playground, a large cafe with delicious food and plants to delight the gardener in everyone.
The playground is fully fenced with a single gate opening at the edge of the cafe. We were able to sit at a table and watch the kids play for ages while we sat and chatted over tea.
We took turns joining the children to play different games. And the play equipment encouraged fun imaginative play, which is always a winner in terms of keeping the kids occupied for longer.
The play equipment consists of:
- Double slide
- Wooden bridge
- In-ground mini trampolines
- Musical play
- Balancing log and rocks
- Spider web climbing frame
- Rock climbing wall
- Ten pin bowling
- Building blocks
- Climbing mound
- Little ‘shop’
- Balancing snake
The playground has a roof that can open and close, with an extra ‘curtain’ for really hot and really cold days. The same roof covers most of the outdoor plant area. We were absolutely fascinated by the roof! The playground also has a large brick wall that we hope to see painted into a magnificent garden inspired mural one day. Hint, hint!
There’s also a separate kids area at the entrance of the cafe. It has a couple of pay per play machines. Plus, a FREE merry go round and noughts and crosses game.
Frankies Food Factory Cafe has indoor and outdoor tables. A huge menu with lots of choices to satisfy everyone. Keep in mind that some items are available all day and others are only before or after 11.30am. The food is a little pricey, but seeing I got to have a long adult conversation, while the kids happily played, it was well worth it! And would be great for special occasions and catching up with other families.
The sweet treats at the counter looked great and we’ll make sure we leave room for some next time. We loved the paper tablecloths and crayons that entertained the children and the adults. So fun to draw on your own table!
The store is a huge warehouse (like Bunnings) and also has a large range of beautiful home decor. There are two lots of toilets – one near the entrance with a parents room and another inside the cafe.
After our meal we wandered around through the store and thought everything looked very well maintained.
To find a cafe overlooking a fully fenced playground is a treat and to be able to enjoy a fun shopping side trip is a great bonus.
