Winterlight: Skate, Eat and Play | Prince Alfred Square, Parramatta@ Prince Alfred Square, Parramatta

One of Sydney’s biggest winter festivals, Winterlight, is set to return to Parramatta 5th to 21st July. It will transform the picturesque heritage grounds of Prince Alfred Square into a winter wonderland.

Back for its 9th year, the popular festival will once again feature Sydney’s biggest open-air ice rink, a dedicated kids’ rink with little ‘kanga helpers’, a 30-metre-long ice slide, giant illuminated ferris wheel, interactive light installation, ice skating performances, carnival rides, free kid’s activities, live music and a food village.

For a seamless ice skating experience, book your session time online. Walk ins are also welcome, though sessions have a limited capacity.

  • Penguin hire: an additional $5

Aquatopia will be turned into IceTopia during the July school holidays. It’ll be a fun afternoon with the whole family, with ice skating, family entertainment, music, lighting and decorations.

IceTopia Open Air Ice Skating

IceTopia is an affordable activity with the kids. Tickets are $11 for one skater, $16 for two skaters and $22 for three skaters.

Session times will be from 12pm Saturday 6th July until Sunday 21st July (16 days) and are as follows:

  • SESSION 1: 12pm – 1pm
  • SESSION 2: 1:30pm – 2:30pm
  • SESSION 3: 3pm – 4pm
  • SESSION 4: 4:30pm – 5:30pm
  • SESSION 5: 6pm – 7pm
  • SESSION 6: 7:30pm – 8:30pm

Keep in mind that:

  • Sessions go for 60mins.
  • Please arrive 20mins prior to your session time to fit skates.

Come & meet “Buttercup” a 6m x 2.4m Albertosaurus skeleton & other Skeletons & Skulls of Crocodiles, Dinosaurs & other Animals from the Museum of Comparative Zoology Australia – M.O.C.Z.A. There will be Museum Staff on site for all questions. And why not bring your own Dinosaurs to meet ours !!!

Australiana Pioneer Village: School Holiday Program

There are a range of general activities to do while visiting the village, including the miniature trains ($3 per ride for 3yrs+), watching the blacksmith working, going on a horse and carriage ride ($3 per person) and seeing a shearing demonstration. There are also plenty of places to picnic and lots for the kids to explore.

Note: There’s 28 acres of FREE parking inside The Village so please drive into The Village rather than park in the street . . .

The Village is open every from 10am to 4pm

  • Sunday, public holiday Mondays (except Anzac Day) and
  • Tuesday and Wednesday during school holidays.

The Armory Express train is a school holidays special train tours. The train tour takes visitors on a short ride on the heritage train around parts of the former Royal Australian Navy Armament Depot. A great activity for families and vacation care groups.

  • Session Times: 11am,11.30am, 12pm,12.30pm, 1pm and 1:30pm. Afternoon times also available for groups of over 20 people by arrangement.
