Looks like we will be seeing out 2018 singing our way through December with a great number of wonderful local Christmas events! But we have still managed to find three non-Christmas events for our top 10 pick of local events in December.

Of course, December also sees the start of summer. And fabulous fun times cooling off at a nearby beach, water playground or natural swimming spot.

Here are our 10 top pick of events worth attending in December. It was SO HARD to pick just 10, so make sure to look over all the other great family-friendly events happening in Decemberlisted at the bottom.

1The Langston Weekender Festival | 30th November to 2nd December

Enjoy well known food brands, wander community market stalls, admire public art, let the kids be entertained and attend educational workshops at this FREE 3-day festival from Friday 30th November to Sunday 2nd December in the heart of Epping town centre. It’s sort of like a mini version of the very popular Parramatta Lanes, back in Epping!

2Market By The River – 2nd Birthday party | 1st December

Market By The River is a great, local market on the 1st Saturday of the month at Halvorsen Park in Ermington along Parramatta River from 9am to 2pm. With Christmas around the corner, you can grab some yummy and special gifts at Market By The River. Plus help celebrate their 2nd birthday party! And afterwards, you can head to one of the three nearby playgrounds.

Head to any local Bunnings store for their FREE fun Christmas Family Night from 6pm to 8pm (except Carlingford which is 4pm-6pm) on Thursday 6th December. All stores will have a visit from Santa, Christmas craft and light refreshments. Some stores will also have animal petting zoo, face painting, jumping castles and other entertainment.

Epping Christmas Pool Party

Join Santa at the ‘coolest’ local Christmas event on Saturday 8th December from 12:30pm to 4:30pm. On top of free entry to Epping Pool, there will be heaps of fun free activities at the Christmas Pool Party, including a visit from Santa, giant inflatable water slide, face painting and balloon twisting, reptile show, free popcorn and fairy floss and DJs.

Auburn Botanic Gardens will be turned into Whoville for one special night this Christmas where things have turned decidedly ‘green’ as Dr Suess’ beloved Grinch helps us remember the true meaning of Christmas…. You might even cross paths with the Grinch himself!

This year’s Christmas in the Gardens is free and features Christmas lights, Christmas carols by local community groups, free rides and Christmas activities, Dr. Suess themed foods and an open air movie screening. PLUS so much more!

6Community Christmas Celebration – Ryde Park | 9th December

There’s fun for the whole family at our Beach themed Christmas celebration, in beautiful Ryde Park.  Make sure the kids have their list ready for Santa and their cozzies and towels for the water rides. There will also be visit from Santa, Michael Bublé Christmas Tribute Show, giant sandpit, Christmas craft activities and cooking workshops and gold coin donation BBQ raising funds for Buy a Bale.

7Christmas in the Hills | 12th December

For the 7th Year Christmas in the Hills will bring joy to Bella Vista Farm on Wednesday December 12th 2018 from 4pm with food stalls and rides. Then from 7pm – 9pm there will be the carols, followed by a spectacular fireworks display. This is a ticketed event – $8 each with money donated to three local charities.

8Carols in the Crescent | 15th December

For the first time, Parramatta will have its very own massive carols event at Parramatta Park! Singer-songwriter Guy Sebastian will head the free all-star carols concert on Saturday 15 December from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. There will also be rides and food stalls.

Sydney Olympic Park will host an exciting Sydney Christmas Fair followed by Carols by the Cauldron on Saturday 22nd December. There will be amusement rides, children’s activities, food trucks and market stalls.

10New Year’s Eve | Parramatta Park

Farewell 2018 at Parramatta’s ultimate end-of-year celebration in the stunning grounds of the World Heritage-Listed Parramatta Park. Watch the skyline sparkle with colour and light, and enjoy a host of family-friendly activities and entertainment across four areas and two stages.
