We made butter for the first time a few months ago. I had actually never thought to make it before. We stumbled across a how to make homemade butter YouTube clip though when looking for how butter is made for Mr 3.
He woke from his nap one arvo adamant that we had to make butter so off we went to the shops to get thickened cream. And that’s all you need plus some cold, iced water!
Only took maximum 10mins and so much joy (and a bit of mess).
Instructions
Just beat thickened cream until it clumps and the butter milk separates. This takes about 6mins with a bench, hands free electric whisk. It is at this point that you can add a little chilled or iced water to help the separation process. Drain away the liquid and then wrap the butter in baking paper (and air tight container) and put on the fridge.
To make garlic butter, just beat in the crushed garlic after the liquid has been drained.
We now make homemade garlic butter about once a fortnight
