In 2019, the owners of The Container Cafe in Dundas Valley sold their cafe and it’s now Daisy by the Park. We’ve visited but are yet to write up a new review. It is very similar though to the former cafe, with the same fit out. Below is our old review for The Container from 2017.

We waited a long time for a cafe to open in the Valley. But the wait was definitely worth it, with The Container Cafe being such a welcome addition to the area.

And we particularly love that we can now enjoy yummy, well priced food before, after or during a visit to the great water playground at Dundas Park – the only water playground in the area with a cafe nearby!

Dundas Park Dundas Valley

The Container cafe’s fit out is modern and warm. The yummy menu consists of cafe classics, with extensive all day brekkie options. There is outdoor and indoor seating and the staff are very friendly. They serve Allpress coffee, hand crafted Husky pies, a large variety of selected pastries and sweets. And they have a kids menu and little vegetable garden, which we helped set up, that kids can water.

The owners, Angelo and George, have over 20 years experience running restaurants. They were behind Inside Out Restaurant and Bar in Parramatta and are now excited to move into the casual dining space and Dundas Valley. And things have been going so well that they opened another The Container Cafe in North Parramatta, opposite Doyle Ground, in August 2017. It has the same menu but limited space for prams.

We find The Container Cafe to be family friendly – and it gets the thumbs up from my Mr 4 and Mr 3. There are high chairs and a courtyard space where the kids can run around and you can sit with your pram. Keep in mind that while there is a toilet, there is no baby change table, but there is enough room to take the pram in.

The Container serves breakfast and lunch all day, plus they have a kids menu. You can also grab your meal to go, which means you can enjoy your lunch while the kids splash or ride at Dundas Park.

We have found the food to be consistently tasty and reasonably priced. Some of our favourites are the bacon and egg roll, smoothies, pies, steak sandwich and pancakes.

Finding The Container

There is street parking at the front and side of The Container Cafe, though these spots fill quickly on the weekend when there are sports on in the oval. There is a bus stop about a minutes walk away, where you can catch the 545 to Parramatta and Chatswood, plus other buses like the 513 to West Ryde and Meadowbank.

  1. I am so excited about this. Can’t wait to check it out soon. Did they at least have babycinos and kid sized shakes? What’s this about a herb garden? Very very excited.

  2. I saw a few kids enjoying small sized milkshakes (which were in a plastic cup with lid) and they were very happy to bring out another tall glass with a straw for Kell to separate the boys drink into.
Herb garden is to come, you’ll have to wait and see

  3. So excited that this Cafe has opened up. We have needed a coffee stop like this in the Valley for years. It’s always busy, staff helpful and friendly. Meals generous in size, although I would prefer the option of child size meal. To top it off coffee is good too and that is a winner for me.
