The Garden – Family Friendly Restaurant | Wests Ashfield Leagues Club

An unexpected oasis in Ashfield that not only serves good food with a smile, but also promotes sustainable and ethical practices. Oh, and did I mention there’s a kids play area!

I rarely go to Ashfield but I was curious to see what The Garden was all about after it kept popping up on my Instagram feed. We visited on a weekend and the club was easy to find, with plenty of parking. We didn’t book but managed to grab a table as soon as they opened at midday.

The Garden Wests Ashfield LeaguesJust like the name, the restaurant was decorated like a garden (surprise!). It is a spacious venue with plenty of room for prams. There are high chairs if required and a parent room nearby where you can change your little one’s nappy.

The Garden promotes mindful eating. They work directly with local farmers to source fresh and seasonal produce and promote ethical and sustainable practices to help livestock. The Garden is more than a restaurant, it aims to be the movement “to champion good food from good places”.

The menu is extensive and slightly different throughout the week. Plus, there is a kid’s menu with a choice of fish and chips, nuggets, pizza, spaghetti bolognaise, slider and chips, or chicken and salad, all for $9 each.

We ordered the slider and chips for Miss 4 and we had the roast of the day (pork) and fish and chips. Just as promised, it was simple but delicious food!

Play Area

There is a designated play area for children so you can enjoy your meal while they are occupied. HOT TIP! If you make a booking, request a table close to the play area.

The play area has a chalk board, building blocks, connect four, table soccer, chess and various other activities to keep the kids busy. The area was filled with natural light and was such a clean and welcoming space for children.

There is a café just outside of the restaurant that sell sandwiches, rolls, burgers, and naughty but delicious treats. A great option for parents and carers that just need some time out and a quick bite while the kids burn some energy.

The Garden Wests Ashfield LeaguesThis restaurant ticked all the boxes for my family. Free parking, spacious seating, great service, play area for the kids, and good food.

Not that we need an excuse to come back but The Garden also does Kids Night on Tuesdays! All kid’s meals come with free ice cream and there is FREE face painting and balloon twisting 6pm to 8pm. Definitely a place that knows the way to my heart (and my wallet)!
