Two Birds Cafe in Prospect was recommended to me by a friend – she’d told me about the good food, coffee, and play area. Despite knowing all of this, my first thought when entering Two Birds Cafe was ‘Wow – this is my kind of place!! How is it that I’ve never been here before?!’
The staff were welcoming, it is bright with relaxed decor, and the sweets in the cabinet next to the counter looked delicious! Oh… and then I found the play area and my little one was delighted!
The Two Birds Cafe is located in Flower Power Prospect. Flower Power has a reasonable amount of on-site parking available too, which is great when you have little ones! It’s fun to wander around Flower Power with your kids, checking out the plants and fish ponds – even if you aren’t looking to buy anything.
Plus during the autumn, winter and spring school holidays, they run FREE kids gardening classes from 11am each weekday; and kids can eat for free afterwards (conditions apply).
To find the cafe, you need to go through the Flower Power entrance. Then continue ahead for about 20 meters, past giftware and pots for plants. You’ll then see the cafe through a door on your left.
Once inside the cafe, there are a variety of wooden tables inside, outside, and some couches too. The counter is on the left. We grabbed some menus and took a right turn to find the indoor kids play area.
The play area consists of a cheerful play mat with roads on it, a play kitchen with a variety of wooden food, a play market, a variety of children’s books, colouring pencils, a tv with children’s shows playing, and a range of toys to play with (e.g. trucks, mega blocks etc.).
There’s also a low-level table at kids height with kids chairs.
My son appeared to feel right at home, and started playing straight away. On the day we went, he was the only kid playing in that area but there were some lovely and helpful rules for the play area if there were a few kids in there.
At Two Birds you need to order at the counter, get a table number and they bring your order to you.
There was an all day breakfast menu, a lunch menu, kids menu, sweets in the display next to the counter, and a range of drinks to choose from.
Our drinks arrived soon after ordering. I felt that our meals came quickly too. The banana smoothie was amazingly thick, and it tasted like I was drinking banana bread! We enjoyed the grilled halloumi and vegetable stack.
The prawn pasta was very tasty, though a bit spicy.
We loved our food and the kids meal came with a generous serving of tomato sauce. They definitely know how to please both kids and parents alike!

We can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. Also, I was already checking out their set menus for Mother’s Day and other upcoming events.
