We have walked the Redbank Track a few times now, starting at Robin Hood Park and walking along Toongabbie Creek to the bridge at Windsor Road. Little did we know that just on the other side of the bridge is another playground at Alice Watkins Reserve.
It’s only a small playground and in need of some TLC, but still enough to keep preschoolers and young primary school kids busy for a while. Plus its near to Toongabbie Creek and gets some natural shade.
Within the playground, there is:
- Climbing play gym with double slide, fire pole, climbing ladder and abacus
- Swing set, with toddler seat
- Rope climbing
The play equipment has seen better days and some repairs are also needed.
Next to the playground is a picnic table and bench seating. The play equipment is set back from the road. Keep in mind that a bit behind the playground is Toongabbie Creek, though there are trees which form a barrier.
Alice Watkins Reserve is along the Redbank Track, which runs from Hammers Road, under Windsor Road, through to Redbank Road. It’s 3.5km in total you can do shorter sections of it. Like from Robin Hood Park to Alice Watkins Reserve – playground to playground. Unfortunately there are no toilets along this section, but there is a bubbler at Robin Hood Park.
Finding Alice Watkins Reserve
You can access Alice Watkins Reserve from a number of ways, with the main street access being from Charlemont Way in Constitution Hill. The other main way is along Redbank Track.
