North Rocks Park is actually in Carlingford – just to confuse you! – along North Rocks Road. Within the park there’s a community centre, tennis courts, sports fields, picnic facilities and of course a playground. It’s also home to a few annual community events, like North Rocks Carols by Candlelight. City of Parramatta Council took over managing the park with the boundary changes in 2016 and a masterplan for the North Rocks Park Precinct was approved in 2018.
This park has the rare combination in the City of Parramatta of a fully fenced playground and toilets. And is popular for that reason.
There is some natural shading over the playground – more so in the afternoon.
The centrepiece of the playground is the large climbing play gym, slides, bridges and climbing walls. I think it’s best suited to young primary school kids and the more adventurous preschoolers. But there are sections that my kids enjoyed when they were toddlers.
Within the fenced playground, you’ll also find swings, rockers, spider rope pyramid and a dry creek.
Plus there’s BBQs, benches and a small path to ride on. But no picnic shelter, which would be very handy. Just outside the playground gate are toilets and the on-site carpark.
There is also meant to be a cafe at the car wash across the road, but we haven’t explored that yet.
