walter brown parkWalter Brown Park was one of the first fenced playgrounds we found in the area with a cafe nearby. Back then the cafe was Delilicious but in 2019, Queens Cup Cafe moved in and took it up a number of notches! It’s now one of our favourite local cafes – I particularly love the Korean food on their menu.

The small fenced playground at Walter Brown Park is right across the road from the cafe and next to the Vineyard Creek track. It’s best suited to kids under 6yrs.

This is one of very few playgrounds in the City of Parramatta that is fenced. But sadly it has little shade and has been in need of some TLC for a while now. So we’re excited it’s finally set for an upgrade in 2021/2022! Make sure to have your say by 2nd June 2021. We’d love to see a playground inspired by Vineyard Creek and local wildlife, with more shade and picnic tables, plus a street library.

There’s two sections to the playground. The top part has a boat themed climbing play gym with slide, abacus and tunnel, plus a fish rocker.

Then in the bottom section, behind another gate and down a few stairs, are two swings.

The ground is mainly synthetic grass and there’s a little natural shade at certain times of the day – but best avoided on a sunny day!

There’s a picnic table in the park and across the road is Queens Cup Cafe, which is open for breakfast and lunch all week.

Finding Walter Brown Park

The address for this park is 2A Gibbons St, Oatlands. It is however listed as being in Telopea on the City of Parramatta Council website (it’s on the border of the two suburbs).
