Opened in May 2016, the Bennelong Bridge connects the new and rapidly growing suburb of Wentworth Point with Rhodes and is only for pedestrians, cyclists and buses.

It may have taken us four months after it opened to visit Bennelong Bridge, but we’ve been going regularly since. My boys love water, going on bridges and watching construction, which you can find here in spades!
Reasons to Visit Bennelong Bridge

Going for a family crossing of Bennelong Bridge, along the designated shared walk and cycleway, is a great little outing for a number of reasons:
- You can see through the railings to the water;
- It’s only 300 metres in length;
- The bridge has a smooth surface with only a small incline and decline;
- The path is pretty wide, leaving plenty of room for wondering little ones (or in my case, zig zagging scooter riding little ones);
- There are three rest spots along the way;
- There is a great, small fenced playground a few minutes walk from the Rhodes end called Rhodes Foreshore Park, as well as a number of other playgrounds nearby, like Phoenix Park;
- You have plenty of places to grab a bite to eat or drink on either end;
- The Rhodes Waterside Shopping Centre, Rhodes Train Station and Sydney Olympic Park Ferry Wharf are only about a 10min walk away from the bridge. Plus, Marina Square shopping centre is almost at the beginning of Bennelong Bridge on the Wentworth Point end.
- There are gorgeous views out over Parramatta River and across to Sydney Olympic Park.

Now the only downside is that it can be very hard to find a carpark near the Rhodes end. But with the opening of Marina Square, there is not the problem anymore on the Wentworth Point end. You can park there fore free for 3hrs. You could also park at Rhodes Waterside shopping centre and walk down or travel there by ferry or train.

Getting to Bennelong Bridge
Bennelong Bridge connects Wentworth Point and Rhodes. It is a pedestrian, cycle and bus bridge only. You can cross from either end and there is limited parking on both sides. You could also park at Rhodes Waterside and walk down.
Alternatively, Sydney Olympic Park Ferry Wharf and Rhodes train station are about a 600m walk from Bennelong Bridge.
I suspect my kids might love running free on this bridge. Definitely have to add it to my list of things to try. Thanks for sharing, Kellie.
