We usually visit the fully fenced Kilpack Park after gymnastics at YMCA Epping and it is great for my boys to burn off a bit more energy before heading home.
Kilpack Park is best access at 28 Darwin Street, Carlingford, just down the hill from Carlingford Court Shopping Centre. The park has a lot of pedestrian traffic. Walkways run from Carlingford Road through to Ross Street, connecting with the main playground entrance of Darwin Street.
The entire park is completely fenced and the spring loaded self locking gates that definitely give you peace of mind. Carlingford Road is a very busy road! I was surprised that the traffic noise was quite dull until we got up close to that side of the large park.

The small to medium sized playground sits halfway between the Darwin Street Entrance and the Ross street Entrance. The play equipment consists of a climbing play gym with:
- large red slide,
- small blue slide,
- ramp between the slides,
- stepping ‘stones’,
- rope climbing,
- ‘fruit Shop’,
- car front
- rock climbing angled wall (with cutouts for little hands).
The other freestanding play equipment on the softfall area includes:
- Rope climbing tower
- ‘Dragon’ rocker
- Two seater rocking horse
- Swing set with a birds nest seat, a child seat and a toddler seat
The playground doesn’t have any shade sails. However there a lots of large trees at the front and the back, that give shade early in the morning and late in the afternoon. There are lots of lovely tall trees throughout the park creating shade in one of the large grassy areas and for some of the walkways.
Other Facilities
Next to the play equipment is an undercover area with a BBQ, tap and a nice long picnic table.
The walkways can also be used for riding bikes or scooters. Just remind your children be mindful of the pedestrians. And you might need to keep an eye out for fallen sticks on the path.
Please note that the latch on the gate at the Darwin Street entrance is currently broken. The play equipment isn’t too close to this gate though. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
Finding Kilpack Park
The playground is best accessed from Darwin Street in Carlingford. But you can also enter Kilpack Park from Carlingford Road (about 212) and Ross Street. There is street parking available or you can catch a bus along Carlingford Road to a stop just passed the park.
Do I have to book for a birthday party on weekend. Please guide
Hi Syeda, no – Parra Council don’t book out picnic shelters in parks. It’s first come, first serve. Have fun!
Are we aloud to have jumping castles there?
Hi Sonia, you will need to contact the Parks team at City of Parramatta Council.
