City of Parramatta Council has just completed upgrading Max Ruddock Reserve in Winston Hills, adding new:
- community play space and picnic area
- exercise stations in multiple locations
- shade canopies over seating areas and additional shade tree plantings
- footpath connecting to Junction Road
- bench seating at the eastern edge of the sports fields
The new playground is located on Romulus Street, near Caroline Chisholm Drive.
It has a gorgeous little nature play area, which thankfully is under trees. So it will be good to play in year round. We love the huts with pictures and info of native animals burnt into the wood panels.
There’s also a climbing frame with slide. Plus a birds nest swing. But we’d suggest holding off playing on these until it gets a bit cooler as they are in full sun and made of black rubber. Even at 9am they were hot.
There’s picnic tables and a bubbler in the playground. Plus back rests on the brick wall so it doubles as seating.
Max Ruddock Reserve is popular with weekend sports (cricket matches were underway when we visited). It’s just around the corner from Winston Hills Mall.
