Found on Bartlett Street, the Thomas Wemyss park is a large park with a basketball court and playground. The playground equipment would suit toddlers to primary school aged kids. There are different methods for the children to gain access to the slides. This makes it perfect for kids of all ages. The playground does need some maintenance, specifically the flooring and it would be lovely if it was gated.
You’ll often see older children having basketball matches, which is great to watch. I haven’t seen any BBQ facilities or bathrooms however the land itself is quite large and great to help the little ones get rid of excess energy. It seems to also be a short cut to the local public school, Ermington West Public School.
Across the road from the park there are a few stores. There is a Chinese restaurant, Charlie’s takeaway shop for some fish and chips, or some super strong and awesome coffee, a dentist, hair dressers, a cake shop and butchers.
Many people have mentioned that they love to buy some fish and chips from across the road, walk over to the playground and have lunch there. I am yet to try it but look forward to doing so.
